Miruna Doicaru

Function:
Media Researcher
My fascination with letting images repeat and repeat - or in film's case 'run on' - manifests my belief that we spend much of our lives seeing without observing. (Andy Warhol)

Miruna Doicaru is a media researcher and a lecturer at NHTV Breda. Her PhD research focused on identifying various forms of absorption in film and their specific narrative determinants. Her research interests cover understanding the cognitive and emotional processes through which viewers get absorbed into the story-world of a film, understanding foregrounding in film and its relation to aesthetic appreciation. Miruna has developed an instrument to measure aesthetic appreciation of film, and is willing to further explore the determinants of aesthetic appreciation during film viewing, and its impact on attitude change and/or creativity. A topic she is more recently interested in, and willing to investigate is engagement with VR narratives.
